Brianna Tucciarone To Be Presented With The Janet Zilinski Hope Award
Bridgewater, NJ - April 29, 2009 -- The Janet Zilinski Memorial Fund will be presenting The Janet Zilinski Hope Award to eleven year old Brianna Tucciarone on Saturday May 23, 2009. The presentation will take place during the opening ceremonies of Janet's Night at the TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ.
Brianna Tucciarone was nominated for the award after contributing $400 of her birthday money to The Janet Zilinski Memorial Fund. The fund was created in the memory of eleven year old Janet Zilinski, who died of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) on August 10, 2006. The goal of The Janet Zilinski Memorial Fund is to raise awareness about SCA in children and young adults by providing training and direction to local schools and youth organizations regarding the implementation and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
Brianna, who never met Janet in life, was moved by the cause and enlisted her friends to help. In lieu of gifts for her eleventh birthday, Brianna requested that her friends make a donation to the memorial fund instead. Her selfless efforts raised over $400 for the program. The Janet Zilinski Hope Award honors children and young adults who exhibit compassion, hope, and inspiration within their communities.
The presentation of the award will take place during the opening ceremonies at Janet’s Night at the TB Bank Ballpark in Bridgeport, NJ. The TB Bank Ballpark is the home base of the Somerset Patriots, who have been avid supporters of the memorial fund since its inception in 2006.
